Intercultural Communication in Business: Understanding Others and Being Understood by Others

Have you been in a professional situation in which you simply did not understand how people from other cultures and countries act and react?

Have you been confronted with a case in which you were in a business negotiation and knew exactly what you wanted to say, but just could not get the words out?

Communication between various cultures is certainly not easy, especially in business relationships. I was born in the US and have spent more than 30 years in Germany. In this time I have expanded my horizons to become an expert in intercultural communication. I have been self-employed for over 25 years and use every chance possible to integrate the knowledge I have gained into my work. I know about the barriers that can occur when working in different languages. Misunderstandings are unavoidable and things often do not work out in the way people want them to.

So many times I hear statements such as, “People don’t understand what I’m trying to say” or “I can’t express myself as eloquently as I’d like to”.
